Seaside Dance Academy wants to provide your child with serious dance instruction in a fun and creative
atmosphere. To accomplish this goal we need your support in following these policies.
We are always interested in
improving our dance education programs. Please feel free to discuss your child's particular needs with the instructor as long
as it does not interfere with a class beginning or ending on time. If you have questions about class schedules or tuition,
or would like to leave the instructor a note, please see the office assistant at the front desk.
GENERAL
STUDIO RULES Parents and dancers must remain in the lobby until called to class by the instructor. All
parents and children not in the dance program must wait in the lobby area during classes. All students must wait inside
the studio lobby after class ends until an adult arrives to pick them up. Food or drinks are allowed only in designated
areas of the lobby. Seaside Dance Academy is not responsible for the loss of any personal items. Please label all of your
dancer's shoes and clothing and leave valuables at home.
INSURANCE Seaside Dance Academy
does not carry medical insurance for it's students. It is required that all dance students be covered by their own family
insurance policies, and if injury occurs, it is understood that the student's own policy is your only source of reimbursement.
PRACTICE WEAR Practice wear of leotard and tights is required for all classes. Jazz
pants and tank/crop tops allowed for Hip hop and adult jazz. A list of acceptable clothing and shoes is distributed
each fall during the first week of classes. Copies may be obtained at the front desk.
ATTENDANCE
Please make every effort to have your dancer at every class. Good attendance is imperative, as absences and tardiness
can hold back an entire class.
MAKE-UP POLICY · Classes cancelled due to snow, bad weather
or holiday are to be made up by attending a similar class on a different day. Please notify the front desk before attending
a make-up class. Classes cancelled by instructor will be re-scheduled by the instructor. Notices will be sent home with
each dancer at the next scheduled class. · No refunds will be given for missed make-up classes.
REGISTRATION
FEE A $20.00 annual registration fee must be submitted upon registration to reserve a space in our classes.
A registration is not considered complete and class space is not reserved until this fee is paid. This fee is inclusive of
all classes that a dancer takes each year. The registration fee is non-refundable except in cases where a class has to be
cancelled due to low enrollment, (less than five students).
LOW ENROLLMENT CLASSES Two
weeks into the September session, classes with less than 5 students will either be combined with another class or cancelled.
Tuition (minus the cost of the first 2 classes) and registration fee will be refunded if the class is cancelled, or if the
rescheduled day is inconvenient for the dancer's schedule.
CLASS OBSERVATION Two Parent
Observation Days are scheduled each year: one in December, and one in May. The actual days will be listed on the Studio Calendar
(copies are available at the front desk). Observing classes at other times is not allowed. The spring class observation
day also serves as your child's dress rehearsal for the recital concert. You may videotape these classes. No videotaping is
allowed during the recital concert.
SNOW OR BAD WEATHER The studio will not necessarily
close for snow days, regardless if area schools are closed, since many times roads are clear and safe by 2:30 p.m. Basically
if the roads are clear at 2:30 pm, the studio will be open. If possible, a recording will be placed on the phone.
All
classes cancelled due to bad weather should be made up by attending the same type of class held on a different day.
TUITION
AND COSTUME FEES Tuition is due the first Monday of each month beginning September 8th and ending May
4th 2009.(Weeks that the studio is closed are not included in calculating tuition due dates.)
Tuition Due Dates can
be found on the Schedule of Classes/Registration form, and the Studio Calendar flyer that is handed out each fall. Copies
of each of these documents can be obtained at the front desk.
A $15 fee will be assessed on accounts still
carrying balances at the next tuition due date. A $25.00 fee will be charged for all returned checks.
Tuition
refunds will be issued as follows: · 100% - minus registration fee and costume fees (if applicable) - if
classes are dropped due to illness or injury prior to the start of each tuition due date. Must present valid proof. ·
Remaining tuition (minus registration fee and cost of 2 classes) if written notice is received before the first week of each
month. If your child attends the first week of the billing month no refunds will be given for that month. The notice MUST include
the date of the last attended class. Dropped classes that are not accompanied by a letter will be liable for the full month
of tuition and all costume fees. Once costumes are ordered you will be required to purchase the costume(s) if you have not
informed the studio prior to ordering. You will be sent an invoice for the cost of the costume(s) and a date with a right
to cancel. · September session only - tuition (minus the cost of 2 classes) and registration fee if the class is cancelled,
or re-scheduled on a day your child cannot attend. · No tuition refunds will be given after 1 lesson in each monthly billing
cycle.
Recital costumes are required for each class that your child attends if they are going to participate in the
recital. Costumes are ordered the first week of December and must be paid in full at that time. We try to keep costume costs
reasonable, however you should expect to pay about $65 per costume.
Once costumes are ordered in early December, costumes
fees are non-refundable. The studio MUST BE NOTIFIED IN WRITING prior to November 15th
if your dancer will not be participating in the annual recital concert.
HOLIDAYS Holidays generally follow school schedules. Holiday dates for the year have been
determined before the start of each fall session. Copies of the Studio Calendar can be obtained in the studio lobby. In addition,
holiday dates will be posted and notes will be given to your children prior to holiday periods. We do not close for teachers'
workdays. We are ALWAYS OPEN on Memorial Day Monday.
PRIVATE LESSONS Private lessons
can be scheduled for extra technique help, or for extra help if the dancer has been absent for a prolonged period. Private
lessons are available at an extra charge of $27 per half hour session. Limited Enrollment.
HOLIDAY
SPECTACULAR Each December the studio hosts a winter themed performance at the convention center in Ocean
City. Practices begin each June and are open to all dancers (ages 9 and over) currently taking Ballet, Jazz and Tap lessons
at Seaside Dance Academy. Extra tuition is required, however costumes are provided free of charge by the studio.
COMPETITIVE
TEAM Participation on the competitive team requires more time, energy, and financial obligations from both
the dancer and their families than the recreational classes. Placement on the team is determined by open auditions held each
spring judged by an impartial panel of experts. Dancers wishing to participate on the team must have a minimum of one
year of instruction in Ballet, Jazz and Tap with Seaside Dance Academy prior to the annual auditions.
RECITAL
Our annual recital concert is held on Saturday June 13th at Wicomico High School in Salisbury,
Maryland. We prepare all year to make this a memorable experience for your child and you. Two shows are scheduled: one at
noon and one at 6:00 pm. Recreational dancers will perform in one show only. Team dancers perform in both shows.
A
rehearsal will be held on the Friday night before the recital at Wicomico High School. Please reserve these dates now to avoid
scheduling conflicts. This year's dates can be found on the Class Schedule/Registration form or the Studio Calendar (copies
can be obtained at the front desk.)
· A professional photographer will be taking pictures in the spring of all the
dancers in their costumes with their groups, and also separately. Many different picture packages will be available for your
convenience. · Flowers will also be available for pre-purchase so that they will be waiting for you to pick up at the
recital. · A commemorative program will be available for purchase at the recital. You are invited to purchase ad's in
the program highlighting your dancer's accomplishments over the year. · Volunteers will be needed during the recital and
those people who help out will receive free admission. · Video taping during our year-end recital is not allowed. The
recital will be taped using professional equipment, and DVDs will be available at a reasonable price. Still pictures are
